Weekly Summary 15th April-21st April.

Another week over! It's been a busy one, back to university, essay deadlines and hair appointments (eek!)

Monday, April 15th
Back to university! I only had classes 10am-11am, but felt the need to dress for the occasion. I wore my fave maxi dress teamed with my leather jacket and flat shoes, only to notice half way through my lecture my dress was ripped round the knees; no fear, mommabear has stitched it and it's good as new.
I think I worked Monday. I seem to remember going in for a few hours and stressing over the essay I had to write for Friday, and whacking my friend with my particularly heavy 'Modern Literary Theory' book after he jokingly claimed I don't do a proper degree. Moron.

Tuesday, April 16th
I can't really remember what I did on Tuesday. Seem to have a recollection of being in the library, but I'm not too sure of this.

Wednesday, April 17th
Wednesday was a nice quiet day. I think I went out with Abbie on the morning, or at least have a slight recollection of that, then worked 4pm-9pm, then after work I sat and talked to my mam and aunty.

Thursday, April 18th
With university deadlines for my essay on Marxism and Brecht approaching, I was up at the crack of dawn and in the library by 7am, then headed to classes 9-1pm, then back to the library. I did nearly 3000 words in  5 hours, and have literally just clicked the submit essay button on turnitin (Friday night). RELIEF. I had the day off work, so once I got in from university (at 6pm), my mam and I headed to the theatre to see Joseph and His Technicolour Dreamcoat. I saw the same cast 2 years ago, and unfortunately they were a lot stronger then. The guy who played Joseph was struggling as his voice was on it's way out, the redeeming factor was the cutie who played Benjamin coming and dancing in the aisle next to where we were sat! I was desperate to get my cousin up to dance so I could try and catch his eye, but she wouldn't budge!

Friday, April 19th
DUNN-DUNN-DUNNNNNN! Essay deadline day and also hair-dye day! Was up bright and early to have a shower before the hairdressers, then went shopping with the lovely Laura for an outfit for Saturday night! (I'll do an outfit post on that, and also on my hair!) I bought a cream blouse with a detailed collar and a pair of shorts, then we had some dinner, and then it was time!
I absolutely love my hair like this, my parents aren't keen but it's a nice change for me, my hair luckily didn't go ginger, this was a big weight off my chest after threats from Ryan saying he'll disown me if I went ginger (I've got nothing against gingers and neither does he, just to clear the air!), here was the finished result!

Friday night is going to be a quiet one for me, need to go to the gym and have an early night as I'm working 11am-7pm tomorrow, then 10am-2pm on Sunday, with a night out planned for tomorrow night!

Saturday, April 20th
Saturday's at work are always a bit funny. You never can tell whether you're going to be heaving or dead, or a mix of the two. From my 11am start, it was steady, busy at points but nothing too mad. Half 3 came, the girl on earlies left and I was on my own till 4pm, when the night shift staff would start for the function. And that's when it got busy! I was running round that bar like a blue-arsed fly! Food bell ringing, customers asking for complex drinks, long orders...by the time half 6 came around I was on my knees, and the night staff let me go home as they knew I had plans.
I actually quite liked my outfit for Saturday! Didn't feel too overdressed or underdressed, had a good night with the work girlies! These are the only photos I have from Saturday unfortunately.

Sunday, April 21st
Well today I am sat nursing a horrific hangover. I didn't even drink much, 4 drinks maximum and I feel like I've been kicked all over. Work like this was awful, I was just quiet and got on with it and persuaded the chefs to feed me Yorkshire puddings from the carvery. Sweet talking and coffees go a long way apparently.
I'm going to have a quiet night in now, need an early night, before back to classes and work tomorrow!

Sunday 14 April 2013

Weekly Summary, April 8th-April 14th,

Monday, April 8th.
Relatively nice quiet day. Had a lie in, walked the pooch, then went to work 4pm-8.30pm.
Another nice quiet shift, then as soon as I finished, I went to the pub to meet some friends, this was where my day got funny.
Went to the bar to order some food and drinks, and left my friend with my card to pay, on my way back to our table, I got stopped by two boys who looked around 21-24, and I panicked. I don't know why I do it, in social situations when I'm not drunk and a lad tries to chat me up, I panic and say I have a boyfriend.
Boy 1: Excuse me love, how old are you.
Me: Twenty...?
Boy 1: What do you think of my mate here? He thinks you're gorgeous. *At this point boy 2 started blushing!*
Me: I have a boyfriend! *mentally slaps self*
Boy 1: Well what do you think of him? Out of ten?
Me: Oh god, ermmm, 7?

To be perfectly honest I was being bloody generous giving seven. I literally ran to my table from then, my friend came back and I got a bollocking for panicking and saying I have a boyfriend, when I don't.

Tuesday, April 9th.
Had literally one of the funniest days ever. Went into university to make a start on assignments with my best friend and ended up in stitches writing our own parodies of poems we studied at A-Level. My original parody was based on T.S. Eliots 'Skimbleshanks the Railway Cat', but have now decided to submit my parody poem based on 'Limbo' by Edward Kamau Braithwaite, and Abbie's written one based on 'Island Man' by Grace Nichols. Once they're submitted I might post a copy of them on here, we had an absolute hoot writing them. I also got a chance to try and write my war poem and my love poem, except my love poem has turned elegiac and is focusing on the death of someone very dear to me.
It was also a very good day as when we popped to Greggs on campus to get some lunch, we were given a free doughnut each to try, which was bad for my diet but good for my purse, as I'd been eyeing the cakes up.
Then, we had a staff meeting at work for the F+B Department, which meant I had to go in on my day off. Only the girls turned up, there's three boys who work on the bar and none of them came, it meant we could have a girly catch up as we're never all on shift at the same time; I hadn't seen one of the girls for nearly a month cos our shifts have been so different!
Our meeting was good, a lot of issues are getting resolved that we've raised, and after the meeting all the junior staff (myself, Rachael, Jess, Kat and Lauren) all stayed and sat and talked, then when they left, Rachael and I sat and caught up on every thing (despite the fact we work together and she's my next door neighbour, we haven't seen each other in a month!)
We also organised a night out for the end of the week, so no doubt I'll be posting about that when Friday comes round.

Wednesday, April 10th.
Wednesday was an odd day. Originally made plans to go for a coffee with a friend who lives away at university and had come home for Easter. Unfortunately our plans got postponed, and in a bit of a miffed mood, I rang my best friend and persuaded her to come with me for food and then to the pub quiz that night. We ended up having a hilarious afternoon/night, and I'd forgotten how much I miss having "car times" with her, aka singing along to the crap on my iPod and being total tits.
I wish I'd done an OOTD for this day, as I actually really liked what I ended up wearing (checky shirt tied at the waist, black lace dress worn as a skirt and my heeled shoe boots).

Thursday, April 11th.
I had a longgggg day on Thursday. I had a shift 9am-5pm, and it was the start of a four day tennis tournament in the club where I work. Cue lots of running from the bar to the tennis 'village' and back. Majority of my shift on Thursday was spent running the cafe bar by myself while everyone else transported stuff to the tennis village, where we had set up our own little bar to save people coming back and forth.
I also got to catch up with my friend who I was meant to see on Wednesday. We ended up going for a drink after I'd been to work, and we had a lovely catch up. After saying bye to him, I felt a little bit upset and ended up driving back to work for some councilling as I was in dire need of talking to someone. I got so much support and love from the girls on the bar and my friends who work in the gym/poolside. I'd already had a few tears earlier that day when my manager told me I was 'better than that' (a reference to the fact my plans had been cancelled at the last minute the day before) and had been so lovely to me that it had moved me to tears, then hours later I was in the same spot, moved to tears again by everyone being lovely when I was upset. In the end, Laura came over and sat with me for an hour till I'd vented everything.

Friday, April 12th.
Now. I cannot remember what I did Friday daytime. Again. I know I was off work,  I seem to think I slept late, did housework, and had a bath. On the nighttime, I went for a meal with my mam, aunty and her daughter, to Casa Rio in the town. It was a lovely little tapas bar, and I ate far too much for someone on a diet. I also got bullied *ahem* into having a dessert. It was a lovely meal, then after we'd stuffed ourselves on tapas, sangria and banana splits (at least I had some fruit....), we went to the theatre to see Priscilla, Queen of the Desert. This wasn't a show I'd have chosen to see had I been in London or Broadway. But my mam got cheap tickets and in the end I thought 'why not, it's one to tick off my list'. It. Was. Amazing. I've never laughed so much in my life! It was really feel good, I'd honestly recommend it. My outfit for Friday night (I forgot to take a picture..oops) was simple, red bodycon dress with lacey sleeves and a cutout front (bought at Christmas from River Island), my Topshop leather jacket and black suede ankle boots.

Saturday, April 13th.
Saturday saw me get my mop chopped. I always go to the hairdressers filled with a sense of dread, as every time I go I'm in trouble for straightening/curling my hair too much, but this time I didn't get told off! He did have to cut about 2 inches off my hair, but that was because I hadn't been since before Christmas and the ends were absolutely shocking. I also booked in to finally get my hair ombréd on Friday, I'm terrified but also excited.
I had another shift at work, and to be honest it was the best shift! I was on a 5-F, to start I was on the tennis village till just after six, then rejoined society on cafe bar before the function at half 7. The function was a lot of fun, there were two supervisors, three managers, myself and another junior member of staff on shift, and it was so quick moving. The shift flew by, I had a good dance while I was serving/washing up. AND, we got free cake! The chefs made too much for the desserts, so I shared a fudge cake with the club manager, then had a trifle! Bit fat of me, but I had a tiny bit pasta at dinnertime and would've had nothing else till the next day of I didn't eat those.
One of the highlights of my shift (apart from all the free cake), was when I was leaving the tennis village to rejoin society, I had two massive containers of hot water, cup of tea bags, carton of milk, the float for the till, and two glasses in my arms/hands. Heading past one of the matches to go behind the curtain, I got hit with a tennis ball. One of the teams pelted the ball, just as I got to a certain point, and it bounced off a glass in my arms and rolled away. Everyone pointed and laughed, then cheered when I brought the ball back.

Sunday, April 14th.
Now those of you who live in the North East will know today was a pretty big day. Sunderland VS Newcastle derby! The club manager announced he wanted us all in either Sunderland or Newcastle shirts for our shift, and coming from Sunderland, I opted for a Sunderland shirt. And I am so glad I did. We all looked rather fetching in our red and white shirts, and while we got boos from the chefs (who are all Newcastle fans), the boos soon stopped when Sunderland started kicking arse! We had a good laugh, and while we got absolutely hammered at points, we really pulled together! At one point, there was myself, Rachael, our supervisor Christine, one of the sales boys, the Creche manager, the assistant manager and the club manager all behind cafe bar serving a queue of people that had stretched from the lounge, past the gym, all the way to the tennis courts.  I've never been so glad to finish a shift, get in and have a lovely warm bath.
I had to finish one of my assignments when I got home; I somehow did a 500 word commentary on four poems that I've written in under an hour...score. So now I'm all bathed, fed and ready for university tomorrow.

Sunday 7 April 2013

Weekly Summary, 31st March-7th April.

So here is my first proper blog post of 2013!

I'm going to do a weekly summary hopefully, and see where this gets me, there'll be other posts on days out, shopping trips, nights out (including OOTD and FOTD posts), but for now, just weekly entries.

Sunday, March 31st.
Last Sunday was just an average sort of day for me. I had work, 9am-1pm, which is nothing to shout about. I did have a fun shift though, it was so quiet due to the hot weather, so there was four of us on, and in the end I got sent to wash the windows. With the equipment the window cleaners use. I've never had so much fun, ever, which just goes to show how thrilling my life is.
I washed my way around the lounge, then took myself into the function room and did the back bar and mirrors. I can now officially put 'Window Cleaner' on my CV.
It was also Bank Holiday weekend! Woooohooo! This was the perfect excuse to go out and show off my Easter Present from my parents, and to catch up with friends I hadn't seen since Christmas/last summer!
Shoes - Barratts (had them for years)

I felt very sixties in my little look, beehive, sixties makeup, even the dress. My hair was literally just backcombed to hell, then I put the bottom half into a little bun, but by the end of the night the bun was out because of dancing like a moron to cheesy 90s music. I had a lovely catch up with girls I went to school with, and bumped into a few good friends.

Monday, April 1st.
Last Monday was relatively uneventful. I stayed in bed all day, then had to drag my tired little backside out of bed to go to work for a little four hour shift. Nothing too painful, and ended up having a nice early night because of the night before.

Tuesday, April 2nd.
I planned for Tuesday to be my lovely relaxing day, but in the end I got pressured into going up the fields with the dog. Thought 'excellent, I'll just wear my jeggings and a blouse then I'm ready to go out after'. No. Got up the field, my Archie spotted another dog, ran after it, dragging me behind him and I fell flat on my face in the mud. That sparked an outfit change, unfortunately I can't remember what I changed too, but it was just for chilling round the house, then going shopping in. I didn't have a particularly successful shopping trip either, I just bought a couple of bottles of Argan Oil for my hair and went home.

Wednesday, April 3rd.
Wednesday was a boring day. I worked 9am-5pm, came home, had some dinner and went to the pub, came home and went to bed. That's how riveting my day was.

Thursday, April 4th.
Another 9-5 at work, but this time I'd been woken up for my shift with the new some monsters had egged my car.
Mam: Cath, wake up, you need to go to the car wash after work, someone's egged it.
Cat: Hah, good one mam, April Fool was Monday.
Mam: Nono, really, your car has been egged.
Sure enough, got outside, egg splattered on my windscreen and roof. The people who did that are a word I'm too nice to say.
Got in from work, my mam jumped straight in my car and took me to the car wash, got my little car all nice and clean, then got in the house to find my mam had fully tidied my room! It was a lovely surprise, my room is always untidy and she'd cleaned it and tidied all 15 drawers and 3 double wardrobes!
Thursday night I just had a quiet night in,nothing to shout from the rooftops about.

Friday, April 5th.
Now this is slightly worrying. I haven't got the first clue what I did on Friday. It was two days ago.
I seem to remember lying in bed doing university work. However, I don't know if I dreamed this, as I know I had a dream about writing an essay on Critical Approaches to Literature. I seem to remember just snuggling down on the night and watching DVDs, my life is so exciting.

Saturday, April 6th.
I got roped into working. After my shift on Thursday, I got asked to work a 2pm-10pm shift on Saturday as we had a last minute function organised. Originally I twisted my face. My manager then informed me it was for football teams. I changed my mind, and was suddenly thrilled to work. It was a good function to do! Plenty of good looking boys and I got to see my cousin Elizabeth and her friends, so it wasn't too bad!
The only downside to my shift was the long empty period from 2pm-7pm, when there was four of us working the lounge and only a handful of customers in, so I was wandering from department to department complaining. Went in the kitchen, called the chef a 'bad human being' for winding me up, and ended up on my back, being sat on by the said chef, while he tried to kiss me. I screamed the place down, and everyone on the bar just left me! One of the other chefs stood and watched him! They're bad people too.

Sunday, April 7th.
I had to work today. 9am-1pm, which was a nice little shift, it was quiet again cos of the sunny weather, so mostly I just sat at the end of the bar and complained that I was bored. After my shift, I went to the Sunderland-Chelsea match with my parents, ended up heading home to put hair treatments on ready for my haircut this week, and here I am.

This week probably hasn't been the best week to blog about, but it's a start. Once I'm back to university next week, I'll be hopefully on a roll with things to discuss.

Cathxo

I'm back!

Well, after over a year, I've decided now's the time to start blogging again.  I'm gonna start using my blog as a sort of diary, and in years to come I'll have this, alongside my personal journal, for a good giggle.

The past year has been...eventful. I've had a lot of ups and downs, unfortunately more downs than ups, but I've bounced back from it all and I have become a lot stronger as a person, compared to the shy, insecure girl I was when I first started blogging.

I'd fooled myself for six months, telling myself I was happy in my relationship with my then boyfriend, who was mentioned in blog-posts. After a year and a month, we called time on our relationship, supposedly amicably, till I found out moments later he was still in love with his ex and had been texting her while with me. He told me this to my face, in my living room, moments after we'd split up. Needless to say that went from amicable to horrific in seconds.

After the breakup, I stopped eating. I just had no appetite, the thought of food turned my stomach, and I was managing on a couple of mouthfuls of food a day. And because I couldn't eat, I lost 8lbs in two weeks. The drastic weightloss did nothing for me, I was tired, moody and irritable cos I wasn't getting the right food and sleep. I wasn't healthy in the slightest, and events over the following months didn't help; entering a turbulent relationship with a colleague, having horrific arguments and breaking up every other week for four months was hard, being dumped for another girl was hard, falling head over heels for a guy I met (absolutely perfect, everything I wanted) and finding out he lives in Manchester was hard.

I'm so blessed I've had my friends and family throughout this time. While I'm still not confident and totally secure, I have my amazing best friends to help me through and pick up the pieces.
Laura, myself and Abbie on my 20th Birthday
Ignore the wine spilled down my dress, I was in a silly state.

These two have been an absolute rock for me for the past few years, and they're always there for me no matter what, and for that, I love them wholeheartedly. They're the two people I know I can be myself around.

So this post marks the new beginning of my blog. I'm going to hopefully write on here weekly about anything that's happened, and I'm also going to start vlogging, in preparation for my plans for my summer holiday! A group of us are going to Magalluf, and I've decided I'm going to vlog the experience, so I need some practice!
